What is the role of committee chairmen?
Committees are essential to the successful operation of RCAW, and committee chairmen carry a great deal of responsibility. Committee chairmen must understand the goals and objectives of their committees and communicate with the Executive Director to avoid duplicating the work of other committees.
Committee chairmen have the responsibility for calling committee meetings, recruiting additional committee members, preparing agendas, and ensuring minutes are taken and distributed. Committees must get approval from the Board of Directors before taking action on any specific item or incurring any expenses.

Education & Standards Committee
Co-Chairs: Doug Seidler and Rick Concannon
Members: Allen Merrill, Dan Johnson
The purpose of this committee is to keep members informed of any code changes from IRC or IBC, and to work with member roofing consultants to identify areas of concern in the roofing industry.
Executive Committee
Co-Chairs: Don Vose and Steve Grinaker
Members: Dennis Derks, Mike Jorve
The responsibilities of this committee includes annual review of Bylaws, contract with Executive Director, special duties as set forth by the Board of Directors, nominations from current Board of Directors for positions of President, Vice President and Treasurer, and strategic planning.
Expo Committee

Members: Allen Merrill, D.J. Esary, Dan Johnson, Dennis Derks, Doug Seidler, Gale Kirkendoll, Marty Palmer, Mike Jorve, Rick Concannon
In an effort to upgrade the level of expertise of roofing craftspeople with new technologies, the Roofing Contractors Association of WA will team up with local roofing companies, roofing consultants, roofing suppliers, and roofing materials manufacturers to host the Roofing Training and Technology Expo.
The committee will be broken down into teams (team leader will be in parenthesis): Babysitting team (Mistie Chiddick), Clean Up Team (D.J. Esary), Contest Team (Mike Jorve), Lunch Team (Allen Merrill), Mini Trade Show Team (Joe Horn), Mock Up Team (Don Vose), PR Team (Doug Seidler), Presenter Team (Marty Palmer), Registration Team (Rick Concannon), Shirt Team (Steve Grinaker), Sign Team (Dennis Derks), Site Set Up Team (Dan Johnson).
Golf Committee
Co-Chairs: D.J. Esary and Mike Jorve
Members: Gale Kirkendoll, Joe Horn, John Olson, Chris Johnson
The purpose of this committee it to put on a golf tournament for the enjoyment of the membership.
Legislative / Regulatory Committee
Co-Chairs: Dennis Derks and Don Vose
Members: Allen Merrill, D.J. Esary, Dan Johnson, Doug Seidler, Gale Kirkendoll, Marty Palmer, Mike Jorve, Rick Concannon, Steve Grinaker
The responsibilities of this committee includes being a liaison between the RCAW, The Independent Business Association, NRCA and WSRCA on regulatory and legislative issues. It is also responsible for attending legislative hearings, and communicating legislative needs to the membership.
Marketing / Membership Committee
Co-Chairs: Doug Seidler and Marty Palmer
Members: Mike Jorve, Janell Simpson, Greg Ingham, Rick Concannon
This committee is responsible for developing membership and promotional efforts, and identifying opportunities that further the goals and growth of the Association. This committee sets recruitment goals, develops membership promotions, and recommends new benefits. It is also responsible for promoting the RCAW sponsorship program and mini trade show, and assuring the website is up-to-date.
Residential Committee
Co-Chairs: Don Vose and Mike Jorve
Members: D.J. Esary, Marty Palmer, Rick Concannon
This committee is responsible for meeting the needs of the residential roofing contractors through meetings, and creating educational and training programs geared towards the residential roofing contractor.
Safety Committee
Co-Chairs: Allen Merrill and Dan Johnson
Members: Dennis Derks, Don Vose, Gale Kirkendoll, Steve Grinaker
This committee is responsible for updating past training programs, implementing appropriate new programs, and providing Safety Monitor Training, Ergonomics Training, and Fall Protection training.
